Slitting Machine Classification

A metal slitting machine-also known as a metal rotary shear, longitudinal slitter, or metal shearing machine-is an industrial device designed to longitudinally cut (slit) wide metal coils into multiple narrow strips of various specifications. It is suitable for processing cold-rolled and hot-rolled carbon steel, silicon steel, tinplate, stainless steel, and various types of surface-coated or plated metal coils, thereby preparing the material for subsequent processing stages such as stamping and rolling. This equipment is widely utilized across various metal sheet processing industries, including automotive, home appliances, packaging, construction materials, and machinery manufacturing.

Based on their degree of automation, metal slitting machines can be categorized into three types: simple-type metal slitters, hydraulic semi-automatic metal slitters, and fully automatic metal slitters.

Within these three major categories, further distinctions are made based on the actual dimensions and specifications of the material being processed: thin-gauge metal slitters, medium-gauge metal slitters, and heavy-gauge metal slitters.

Furthermore, based on equipment models and specifications (such as working width), these machines are classified into various series; common examples include the 650, 800, 1000, 1300, 1500, 1600, 1800, and 2200 series.
